The Gauteng Department of Education says it has no choice, but to continue putting pressure on schools to accommodate more learners.
About 35 000 learners have not yet been placed after the 2017 academic programme kicked off on Wednesday.
The department says it is confident that it will be able to deal with the backlog of learners who applied online, before the end of this week.
This follows a court dismissal of an application for an interdict against the department by two Pretoria schools, saying its not urgent.
Spokesperson Oupa Bodibe says MEC Panyaza Lesufi will today visit the schools to ensure they accept learners according to the correct policies:
